American Women in Radio & Television Present Gracie Award® to Soundprint
Grand Awards Presented at Annual Awards Gala With the Biggest Names in Broadcasting and Cable
February 27, 2007 (McLean, VA) – American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT) is pleased to announce the 2007 winners of the annual Gracie Awards®. National award winners will be presented at a black-tie Gala in the Broadway Ballroom of the New York Marriott Marquis on Monday, June 18, 2007.
The Gracies recognize exemplary programming created for women, by women and about women in all facets of electronic media, as well as individuals who have made contributions to the industry. The Gracie Allen Awards encourages the realistic and faceted portrayal of women in entertainment, commercials, news, features, and other programs.
Each year, the Gracies Gala attracts the best and the brightest in radio, television, cable, and new media.
This year’s national winners, including NBC/30 Rock’s Tina Fey, CNN’s Anchor Soledad O’Brien, CBS’ Correspondent Kimberly Dozier, XM Radio’s Oprah & Friends Jean Chatzky Show, Oxygen’s Campus Ladies, HBO’s Wanda Sykes: Sick and Tired, ABC Radio Network’s Satellite Sisters, and Lifetime Television’s Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy, and My World: At Home on Cape Cod/Officer Candidate School, Outstanding Portrait/Biography Show by Soundprint Media, Inc. represent a broad cross-section of outstanding actors, anchors, and programs (see attached for complete list of winners). Some of this year’s local and public winners include WMJX’s Exceptional Women, WFUV’s Fairy Tales, and Democracy Now’s Amy Goodman.

The Gracies are presented by the Foundation of AWRT, the philanthropic arm of AWRT that supports educational programs, charitable activities, public service campaigns, and scholarships to benefit the public, the electronic media, and allied fields. The Gracie Awards, established in 1975, honor programming and individuals of the highest caliber in all facets of radio, television, cable, and web-based media, including news, drama, comedy, commercials, public service, documentary, and sports.
