“Is Senator Barack Hussein Obama a Muslim?”
So, what if he is? I don’t see anything wrong with being a Muslim.
But writing from Jerusalem, WorldNetDaily correspondent Aaron Klein asked recently: “Is Sen. Barack Obama a Muslim? Did he ever practice Islam?”
“The presidential candidate officially rejects both claims, but the issue of Obama’s personal faith has re-emerged amid conflicting accounts of his enrollment as a Muslim during elementary school in Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim nation,” writes Mr. Klein.
“Widely distributed reports have noted in January 1968, Obama was registered as a Muslim at Jakarta’s Roman Catholic Franciscus Assisi Primary School under the name Barry Soetoro. He was listed as an Indonesian citizen,” he continues. Sen. Obama’s stepfather he said, worked for the Indonesian Army.
That’s enough about, whether he is or was ever a Muslim! At age six, in 1968, he–Barry Soetoro, or Barack Hussein Obama–could hardly have been expected to make an informed decision about what religion he should list on his elementary school registration. And why now, should the adult Obama be held responsible for an administrative decision made by his now deceased parents. What did they cheat and get food stamps or something? Do they even have food stamps or welfare in Indonesia?
We are not going to “Play The Dozens” concerning Sen. Obama, okay?
Who would have ever thought that someone would have found Barry Hussein Soetoro Obama’s elementary school registration form, in Indonesia, of all places!! Why don’t they find the part about: “The content of his character, not the color of his skin?”
What does he stand for today? What kind of President would he be?
Has anybody around here read Article VI of the U.S. Constitution? “The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.“
But, since everybody’s talking about Sen. Obama’s church and religion around here, my question would be, was, if his was a Muslim family in Indonesia, were they striving to be a good Muslims? Was he taught to love for his Brother, what he loves for himself?
But Sen. Obama says he’s a Christian. So, is Barack Obama striving to be a good Christian? Does he love for his Neighbor what he loves for himself? It was not so long ago Black folks were wondering out loud, “Is he Black enough?”
Abraham Lincoln wanted to call upon “The Better Angels” of the American spirit to help heal the nation after its still bloodiest war. I believe his was an admirable goal–to appeal to The Better Angels–among the people.
Remembering Article VI which says: “No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust…” That’s plain. But since so many people are now talking about what kind of Christian church Sen. Obama has been attending in Chicago for the last 20 years, in addition to continuing to talk about whether or not he is or ever was a card-carrying Muslim, I still say it’s alright for any President to seek to bring out The Better Angels of the American society. And at the end of the day, that is what I think the Obama Presidential campaign is really about.
In 1968 I was a Peace and Freedom Party college student radical, who did not believe the sincerity of The Powers That Be. Don’t forget, I sold my chance to be President for five bucks, back in 1961. To this day, I have yet to be betrayed by my distrust of said Powers That Be. Is this the best person to be President in these perilous times for America?
If that’s what is in question then what difference does it make if Sen. Barack Obama is a Muslim or not? Realizing that I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being a Muslim.
